1. Alain Aspect

Alain Aspect made a crucial breakthrough in quantum theory, awarding him with a CSNR Gold medal. Aspect is also a member of the French Academy of Technologies and Sciences. He demonstrated the phenomenon of entanglement, which Einstein once rejected.

His research confirmed quantum entanglement and differed from Einstein’s worldview. Aspect continues his experiments, which is about understanding how everything in the world interconnects. He is also studying the localization of waves when using ultra-cold atoms.

2. Timothy Bernes-Lee

Timothy Bernes-Lee is one of the famous scientists today who invented the world wide web. Queen Elizabeth II knighted him for his pioneering work. He is popularly known for his proposal to share info by using hypertext technology, the WWW base.

Bernes-Lee made the world’s first website in 1991 about basic info on the world wide web. Sir Timothy Bernes-Lee received an Honorary Freedom of the City of London award in 2014. Now he calls on governments and firms to safeguard the world wide web from abuse since the “system is failing.”

The award was for discovering the interaction between the cell’s genetic material and tumor viruses.

One of his most notable contributions is the founding of “reverse transcriptase.” His discovery is helpful for the reproduction of retroviruses such as AIDS and HIV. Baltimore is also a member of many scientific advisory boards, such as Immune Design.

4. John Craig Venter

John Venter is one of the most influential and famous scientists of today. Many credited him with creating the first cell with synthetic genomes during 2010.

Venter made a sequence of the human genome. He also transfected a cell with artificial chromosomes.

Currently, his work focuses on building synthetic biological organisms. Venter is also working on documenting the genetic diversity of the world’s oceans. His research can help make bacteria engineered do tasks, such as creating fuel.

5. Jane Goodall

Jane Goodall is popularly known as the world’s expert on chimpanzees. She spent over 55 years staying and studying chimpanzees’ behavior. She studied wild chimps on how their social and family interactions.

Goodall’s study shows that chimpanzees could learn to make and use different kinds of tools. She also learned that chimpanzees find smaller monkeys to hunt and eat. Her research made it easy to understand our closest relative in the animal kingdom.

6. Ashoke Sen

Ashoke Sen is a famous theoretical Physicist giving field-changing research about string theory. He won many international awards, including the Fundamental Prize in Physics in 2012. His studies on S-duality and Sen Conjecture also made him more known.

Sen unraveled the structure of quantum field theory and superstring theory. He gave strong evidence of the strong-weak duality in those theories. His studies made it easier to determine the quantum properties of black holes.

Many people then considered him as the “Father of Modern Electrochemistry.” Bard’s current research involves harnessing the power of sunlight producing sustainable energy. His study will be especially useful when fossil fuels run out.

8. Tu Youyou

Tu YouYou is one of the most famous scientists in her study about the anti-malaria drug. She became the first Chinese woman ever to win a Nobel Prize in 2015. YouYou’s drug saved millions of lives in Asia, Africa, and other countries.

She relied on traditional Chinese medicine to discover DHA and Artemisinin. These helped improve the health and people who lived in tropical climates. Before she isolated the ingredients, she also offered to be the first human subject for the drug.

9. Elizabeth Blackburn

Elizabeth Blackburn discovered that telomeres have a specific DNA. It can help prevent chromosomes from breaking down. She won a Nobel Prize for her progress in anti-aging research.

Her studies also focus on telomeres and how to lengthen their structure. Her research explains that these are essential for DNA replication and cell division.

Blackburn then reveals that these cellular components and roles in lessening cancer. She also explains how her discovery can help with slowing down the aging of the skin. She is currently studying the effect of stress on cells and telomeres in yeast to human beings.

10. Kenneth Chien

Kenneth Chein’s research focuses on the field of cardiovascular medicine and biotechnology. He has over 1000 citations and 132 h-indexes. His study on cardiovascular medicine led to his co-founding of Moderna Therapeutics.

Chien and his colleagues documented the effects of VEGF mRNA. It helps reverse the onset of heart dysfunction.
