Nokia 6 Android Smartphone with New 5 Interesting Features

Nokia finally announced its first Android smartphone, called the Nokia 6, on Sunday. The Android Nougat 7.0 smartphone was earlier expected to launch at the Mobile World Congress event in February.

Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer, HMD Global, has given indications in the official Nokia 6 press release, that the Nokia 6 isn’t the only Nokia smartphone that would be launched this year.

Nokia isn’t new to Android. It’s been down that road before. The Nokia X, if you remember, was one of its first trysts with Google’s Android Open Source Project. But, it wasn’t actually an Android phone on the outside.

Although it was based on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean it was more like an Asha phone with a Windows Phone twist. The Nokia X+ and the Nokia XL — that followed — followed a similar approach.

The Nokia X family of ‘smartphones’ (if you can call them smartphones) did not come with any Google services. There weren’t any Android-level customizations. There was no Google Play Store either.

“The Nokia 6 marks the first step on our journey, with more to come in 2017,” he said.

The phone was announced on the HMD website and based on its features and its 1,699 yuan (around $245) price tag, seems like a mid-range smartphone.

Here are 5 interesting features of the Nokia 6:

Full HD display

The Nokia 6 comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display. While the market is currently enthused by 2K and 4K smartphone displays, a full HD display is a basic standard for a mid-range smartphone display. Given the price, a full HD display protected by 2.5D Gorilla Glass seems justified. The company claims that the device will have good sunlight readability as it has used a polarizer layer in the display stack.

64GB Internal Storage, 4GB RAM

For its price, the device’s 64GB internal storage and 4GB RAM seem to the point. Since its display will not consume too much RAM, that leaves room for gamers and heavy users to extract performance from the device.

In terms of memory, the device comes with MicroSD card support in addition to its 64GB internal memory, which seems better in comparison to competing devices such as the LeEco Le2.

16-megapixel rear camera with phase-detection autofocus

The Nokia 6 comes with a 16-megapixel rear camera with an f/2.0 lens and phase-detection autofocus and an 8-megapixel front cam with an f/2.0 84-degree wide-angle lens. The camera configuration seems on par with cameras from companies such as LeEco, Xiaomi, and Vivo.

Dual Dolby Atmos speakers with dual amplifiers

The device comes with dual Dolby Atmos speakers with built-in dual amplifiers. The company claims that the Nokia 6’s dual amplifiers will deliver a sound that is 6 decibels louder than regular amplifiers.

Android Nougat 7.0 out-of-the-box

The Nokia 6 will come with Android Nougat, which will make it up to speed with Android devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S7. This is a huge improvement in comparison to Nokia’s first attempt at Android — the Nokia X, which failed miserably.

But not all is awesome about the device as two things put the device down — a low-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor and its limited availability — HMD  has announced the Nokia 6 availability just for China.
