What Does the New Decade Have in Store for SEO?

Please don’t tell us that your website does not follow even the most basic SEO rules. You’re not just failing as a webmaster or web developer; you’re also failing as a businessman. You’re putting your business in jeopardy by not optimizing your site’s content for search engines such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, and even YouTube. Drop whatever it is you’re doing now and start searching for ways to make your website SEO-friendly.

It’s a new decade, which means changes in SEO for new websites. You can no longer depend on the old rules you know about SEO. Every minute or so, Google changes and updates its algorithm. You have to keep up. Otherwise, your website will get lost in the millions of sites that probably talk about the same things you do. Get ahead of the game by knowing exactly what will happen to SEO this decade.

Featured Snippets

Learn more about featured snippets. There’s a 90% chance that you click the first link that crops up on Google’s search results. Featured snippets are in Position 0. It is placed above the first organic search result. It occupies the biggest chunk of the search results page.

So how do you get to that position? It’s not just SEO, sorry. Your site needs to provide a clear answer to the commonly asked questions on your website. Google has a way of determining the quality of the content found on your website. Put this in mind of featured snippets: a whopping 54.68% of clicks from Google last year came from Position 0.

Influencers

Now more than ever, influencers will set digital marketing ablaze. Online marketers are investing more in influencer marketing than in traditional online marketing techniques. More than 37% of businesses last year increased their influencer marketing budget. That’s for a good reason. Consumers are always looking for actual people whose opinions they can trust. They no longer believe in ads. They want personalities to “endorse” your products.

Look for influencers who have authority in your industry. If these influencers have a strong following on social media, their “endorsements” are gold. They will create content that’s related and valuable to your company. They will then link back to your website. Backlinks are one of the most important factors that Google uses to determine a site’s value.

Content

This is king, right? It will still be the biggest factor in SEO this decade. Customers will be very particular about the kind of content that they consume. Make sure that you are producing high-quality, relevant, valuable, and informative content. Google’s editorial discretion is becoming very sophisticated. Soon, Google will check the editorial quality of the content that you’re publishing. If you don’t know how to write good content, this is the best time to hire people who know how to do it properly.

You can save costs on a lot of things, but your marketing budget shouldn’t suffer. Digitally, you should increase your presence and influence. Online marketing—SEO, in particular—will only get more powerful this decade.
