The social network can get major updates and a fresh style, according to Elon Musk’s tweet. Swiping to go between feeds, a bookmark button on Tweet information, and lengthy form tweets are a few of the things he hinted about.
Since Elon Musk assumed control of Twitter as its owner and CEO, it has become customary to check his direct feed for updates on new features and modifications to the service’s terms of service. Such was the case with his contentious decision to ban connections that took users to other platforms for social media the year before. Although the decision was later overturned, it led to calls for Musk to resign as CEO of Twitter.
Even if his most recent announcement is not at all contentious, it is important to take note of it since it highlights significant platform changes that consumers should be informed of. Musk claims that a brand-new feature would enable users to choose between suggested and watched tweets in their streams later last week.
Since there was no preview offered, it’s unknown how this will seem, but one may assume it will function similarly to how bookmarked timelines do right now on mobile devices. It’s also not clear if this new functionality will be limited to the Twitter mobile apps or if it will also be available on the online client.
Musk added that this new functionality is simply the beginning of a wider UI change that is coming. Another UI modification is the inclusion of a Bookmark icon in the Tweet sophisticated views. According to Musk, this button will function as the de facto “silent like” on tweets and will be implemented a week after the first change. Although it takes a few extra clicks, bookmarking Twitter has been possible for a while.
The ability to construct long-form tweets has been long promised, and it is finally in the works. Musk said that it would be said in early February, however, he provided no further information on what the functionality would involve.
In a separate tweet, Musk revealed that, as long-requested by users, Twitter will soon start letting users structure their tweets with settings like bold, underlining, and font size.
