Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, stated that collaboration between Beijing and Moscow was crucial to “stabilizing the global situation” during a meeting with China’s top diplomat on Wednesday.

Putin stated at the discussion with Wang Yi that “the cooperation between China and Russia on the global stage is very vital to maintain the ongoing crisis.”

They are meeting at a time when China is attempting to play the mediator’s position and is rumored to be announcing this week its own “negotiated settlement” to the Ukraine issue. Beijing has made an effort to present itself as an impartial party while still being closely associated with its partner Moscow.

Yet, Washington and Nato have expressed concern that China may be getting ready to provide weapons and ammunition to support Russia’s assault in Ukraine.

In accordance with a Russian version of his remarks, Wang Yi told Putin, “With the Russian side, we are willing to deepen our strategic relationship and our in-depth collaboration.”

The top ambassador for China stressed that the two nations’ cooperation was “not hostile to any other state and will not yield to coercion.” He had previously met with Sergey Lavrov, his Russian counterpart.

We are displaying our unity and willingness to protect each other’s interests through our reverence for international humanitarian law and the crucial significance of the United Nations, Lavrov said, despite the intense turmoil on the global scene.

Wang Yi recently met with Dmytro Kuleba, the foreign minister of Ukraine, during his final visit on a tour of Europe.

Relating to “new horizons”

We have decided that the President of the China People’s Republic will attend Russia, Putin said to Wang. “All of that is evolving and developing. We are expanding our horizons, according to Putin.

In response to American worries that Beijing could financially assist Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Putin, the Russian president, announced that Chinese President Xi Jinping would travel to Russia. He said that relations had touched “new boundaries.”

Chinese weapons sales to Russia pose a possibility that the conflict in Ukraine could escalate into a conflict between Russia and China on one hand and Ukrainian and the Nato armed alliance under the leadership of the US on the other hand.

Wang assured Putin that the two nations’ relations had survived the strain of a tumultuous world environment and that crises sometimes presented favourable circumstances.

Using an interpreter, Wang declared that although the partnership between Russia and China was not intended to harm any third parties, it would also “not yield to pressures from third party companies” in an apparent dig at the US.

Wang said to Putin, “Together, we embrace multipolarity and democracy in international affairs. “This totally complies with history and time, and it also satisfies the interests of most nations.”

When Wang first met Sergei Lavrov, Russia’s foreign minister, he expressed excitement about forging new deals during his trip to Moscow. The contracts lacked any specifics.
